Xiaomi Unveils Two Mid Range Phone; Redmi 5 and 5 Plus

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer launches Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones at an event in Beijing on Thursday. The smartphones bear similar designs and some common specifications, however, there are some prominent differences, from screen size to the choice of the processor being used. Redmi 4 which was a success story to Xiaomi which plans to launch Redmi 5 and 5 Plus in Nepal very soon.

The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus bear nearly identical specifications, as we mentioned, with only a few differences. The Redmi 5 boasts a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) 18:9 display with a 282ppi pixel density, while the Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) 18:9 display with a 403ppi pixel density. The former is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at up to 1.8GHz, while the latter is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at up 2GHz. 2GB and 3GB RAM variant is available in Redmi 5, whereas the Redmi 5 Plus offers 3GB and 4GB options.

Both smartphones have updated MIUI 9 and possess the same cameras. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus offer a 12-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and flash, while they also sport a 5-megapixel front camera with a soft-light selfie flash module.They also added beautify 3.0; their own app for better portraits. Both the smartphone comes with fingerprint sensors on the rear panel following the trend of flagship phone of 2017.

In the power department, Redmi 5 comes with 3000 mAh non-removable battery which easily lasts for a day. Whereas, the larger 5 Plus comes with huge 4000 mAh non-removable which powers the phone for more than a day without any hassle.

OS: Android 7.1.2(Nougat) with MIUI 9

Storage: 32GB (expandable up to 256 GB)

Battery Capacity: 4000mAh (Non-removable)

Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano), 4G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, USB-OTG

Sensors:Fingerprint (Rear Mounted), Accelerometer, Proximity, Ambient light, Compass

 

It will be available in Nepali market very soon. Introductory price of Redmi 5 is expected to be Rs. 13,000 and Rs. 14,500 for 2GB RAM/16GB Storage variant and 3GB/32GB variant. Redmi 5 plus will be available at the expected price of Rs.15,500 and Rs. 20,500 which is also available in two variants; 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64 GB.

Xiaomi has set its footprint in Nepali smartphone market with the different range of smartphones. It has been aggressively launching products to attract customers. They are doing good in Nepal as well as in the whole world.
